More About Mckay Scholarship Program 2021

McKay Scholarship is a scholarship that allows disabled students to attend a private school of their choosing.

McKay Scholarship Scheme provides funding to support information and assistance that promotes success for students, families, and institutions.

Based on an individual’s financial situation, the award amount can vary.

Students with disabilities such as intellectual disability, speech, and language impairment, hearing impairments, or deafness are all examples.

Blindness, impaired vision, or a combination thereof could include a dual sensory impairment, an orthopedic impairment, and any other health impairment or developmental aphasia. A specific learning disability would be dyslexia, dyscalculia, or a developmental delay.

The scholarship is offered by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE).

This agency provides students with the opportunity to increase their knowledge through research and learning opportunities. It also helps students improve their proficiency using a single, seamless and efficient system.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholarship’s value equals the smaller of these two amounts:

  • The student’s payment was expected to have earned in the public school where he or she is being assigned.
  • The tuition and other fees for private schools.

Parents are responsible for all fees beyond the amount of the scholarship. The full tuition may not be covered by the scholarship, depending on the school’s cost.

The value of the award is calculated using the student’s IEP or 504 Plan and services provided by the District.

The type and frequency of services provided by the District are also considered in the calculation. The matrix number is used to determine the funding level for the student.

The Florida state government sets the number of funds needed to support the various matrix levels each year. This amount varies from year to year. These amounts are usually announced each July at the beginning.

Eligibility requirements

The McKay Scholarship Program is open to parents of students with disabilities who have an (IEP), Individual Education Plan, or 504 Accommodation Plan.
